Chris Albrecht: Co Owner/Co Founder
chrisalbrecht@fliesandfletching.com
Like many, Chris started his love of the outdoors early in life. As a child, his initial introduction came from his family as well as the Boy Scouts, where he earned top honors as an Eagle Scout. Having been fishing since he was a child with his grandfather, dad, and brother, he took up hunting in 1991 with his best friend and roommate in college and has yet to look back. Over the last several years, he has channeled his passion for bow hunting and fly fishing into global pursuits that have taken him around the world in search of "big game" both on land and in water . It came as no surprise when he met his partner, both having lived in South Florida, coupled with their love of the outdoors, to realize the journey was just beginning and they decided to channel their passion and life long experiences in hunting and fly fishing into launching Flies and Fletching, a guiding and outfitting company operating out of Blue Ridge, Georgia.
Chris is or has been active in many organizations dealing in conserving our natural resources. Some of these include: Trout Unlimited, National Wild Turkey Federation (Diamond Life Sponsor and Past Chapter President), Safari Club International, North American Gamebird Association, Quail Unlimited (Past Chapter Committee), Georgia Outdoor Network (SEEDS Dream Hunt Sponsor), International Bowhunting Organization, National Field Archery Association, Whitetails Unlimited, National Rifle Association, Christian Sportsmen's Fellowship, National Bowhunter Education Foundation, and the Pope & Young Club. Chris has also been featured in numerous outdoor publications, TV, and radio shows such as Bowhunt America, Pope & Young Club, Inside Archery, Bowsite.com, Africa’s Best Bowhunts, Outdoor Expeditions, Southern Backwoods Adventures, and Backwoods Life to name few. A brother of Sigma Nu Fraternity, Chris received his Bachelors in Business Administration in 2005 from Georgia State University with a major in accounting. He is a corporate controller for a privately held Georgia company.
Todd Fox: Co Owner/Co Founder
toddfox@fliesandfletching.com
Driven by an extensive commitment to conservation, and over 25 years of experience pursuing all species of game fish on fly tackle, it only seemed natural that Todd would develop a life long passion for this great sport known as fly fishing. Todd has spent the better part of his life guiding fly fishing clients and hosting fishing trips all over the world. From the back country labyrinth in the Florida Everglades, to the expansive bone fish flats of the Bahamas, from Canada to the Caribbean, Mexico to Montana, and Alaska to the Amazon, Todd has provided many unforgettable memories for people who share in his passion for fly fishing and the desire to pursue all species of game fish.
Todd’s other passion in life is photography. He has been fortunate to have spent the past 15 years photographing a wide array of hotels and resorts throughout the Caribbean, Central and South America, Mexico, and the Bahamas. His career as a freelance photographer has only fueled the fire for his fly fishing passion and sent him caravanning from one end of the globe to the other conceding his eyes the riches his wallet may never see. With a camera bag over his shoulder and a couple of traveled-stained fly rods in hand, Miami International Airport has been the gateway to a plethora of people, places, and “fishin’ holes” etched deep into his soul. As he would tell it “Being able to go fly fishing is the best part of my job”.
Originally from Atlanta, with family stretched wide across the southern states, Todd has spent many years on the rivers and streams of North Georgia both as a young boy and now as a grown man. He’s been fishing these mountain waters since the age of 5 and has always had a strong desire to call Blue Ridge “home”. After relocating from South Florida 5 years ago his efforts are now concentrated on raising his family and operating a marketing and web design firm in Ft. Lauderdale. With a clientele based predominantly in the travel and tourism industries, Todd feels Blue Ridge has a bright future and looks forward to building many new relationships along the way.
Then there’s his obsession with traveling, being outdoors, and fly fishing. So once again at the aide of a good friend they decided to form Flies and Fletching Outdoors, a guiding and outfitting service operating in the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains. In an effort to prove there is a difference in the outfitter you choose, Flies and Fletching pledges first class service on all guided hunting and fishing excursions whether in the mountains of North Georgia or any of their world wide destinations. Todd takes pride in making himself available to his clients… he provides a personal approach that not only keeps them returning year after year but turns them into life long friends.
Our Guides
Herman Scoggins
Herman Scoggins grew up in a small North Georgia town and developed his love for hunting, fishing and the great outdoors by the early age of seven. For him, tagging along with his father and grandfather was a way of life. His first fly rod was given to him when he was eight years old and subsequently the countless hours he spent learning to cast on his families pond finally paid off and he was hooked. Like everything else in life, as “Herm” got older things got better and the opportunities to travel to more remote places to hunt and fish began to present themselves. By age 11 he began back-packing into the expansive Cohutta Wilderness with friends and family members pursuing the elusive native trout found in the Jacks River and other far north river systems… for a young boy that was a dream come true. Since that time Herm has traveled around the country to fish and hunt in such places as Montana, Idaho, New Mexico, Arkansas, and Florida. His love for fishing is paralleled only to that of bow hunting. Herm has spent most of his life in pursuit of both big and small game animals found all over the state of Georgia. He shot his first whitetail buck at age 11 and his first eastern turkey at age 13. As Herm would say “There's always something to hunt or fish for in Georgia” In the early fall you’ll find him in the woods chasing white tails… until duck season begins. Then come spring, which is his favorite time of year, you’ll find him sitting patiently in a blind awaiting the arrival of his favorite species of all… the eastern wild turkey. Herman Scoggins just loves being in the great outdoors and thoroughly enjoys his time spent with others and getting to know the people that share the same passions for the same sports as he.

Greg Long
As a Senator for the Georgia Outdoor News it comes as no surprise to learn that Greg Long is a die-hard outdoorsman. He's a devoted individual in terms of conservation and enjoys spreading the word on ways we can go about preserving our natural resources. Greg is actively involved with the GON SEEDS program and firmly believes that all kids should be privileged enough to reap the rewards of being exposed to the great outdoors. Fall through Spring you can find Greg in the fields with his hard working dogs serving up top notch guided up-land bird hunts for Flies and Fletching Outdoors. When not guiding bird hunts you might find him searching for deer and bear or fishing for trout at one of his favorite spots. A lazy Sunday afternoon for Greg would consist of family, friends and riding his tractor. One might say Greg enjoys the quiet, peaceful, country way of life and most of all...sharing it with others.
Justin Murphy
Justin was born in Daytona Beach Florida in 1976. As most fisherman know, Central Florida is well known for its largemouth bass populations and Justin loved to catch largemouth. 11 years later in 1987, Justin relocated to Blue Ridge. “I had no idea how lucky I had just become”. His home at the time was located about 6 miles out Hwy. 2 (Gravely Gap to the old timers) off of State Hwy. 5. With over 200 yards of Fightingtown Creek flowing through the property Justin had just hit the lottery. “I was simply blessed and just didn’t know it”. Justin and his brother fished in the creek relentlessly in the spring and summer. Two weeks out of the summer he would go camping in Cashes Valley near the headwaters of Fightingtown Creek and that is where it happened........the very moment in time when he knew he was hooked. “In a deep hole, something big grabbed my line and several minutes later I was holding a beautiful native rainbow trout nearing 15 inches.” At the time that was a big fish and big fish for that stretch of water. The rest they as they say… is history.
Now at 31, Justin has a family and owns his own business. After being in the automotive finance industry for 7 years jumping from dealership to dealership he decided to take a leap of faith and in March of 2005 started his own detailing business and has never looked back. This new business opened the door to lots of free time allowing him to once again focus on his passion for fishing on the rivers and streams of North Georgia. Justin is fortunate to be able to fish 2-3 hours per day on the Toccoa River ....sometimes 4 to 5 days a week. Big fish are no stranger to Justin; he knows where to find them. He has personally caught numerous trout over 25" in length with his son landing the latest Toccoa River monster… a 29 inch, 11.6lb brown trout.
Outside of his love for fishing, things are different now. His children… Lauren (5), Christian (6), and Austin (12) get to see him a lot more. As does his wife and life is much better! “My goal is to enjoy every single moment with my family no matter what. We've been blessed. I now want to share my experiences and show others that our Toccoa River hides BIG fish in plain site. I believe there could be that 18+lb state record in there somewhere. Some say no, but I also never thought I would assist my son in his taking of an 11 pounder!!!”
